A number of community groups and volunteers will come together to launch CR Week in Armagh City and District. The Council plans to launch its Action Plan for 2010/11.

Cultural Diversity Seminar

A group of community volunteers who have completed a cultural diversity training programme and study visit to Poland will share their experiences with others from throughout the area.

This event will celebrate the work that participants have undertaken throughout the PASS (Promoting Acceptance in Society through Sport) Community Leadership programme. Parents, community leaders, teachers and councillors will be invited to this event.

Building Capacity for Peaceful Change Conference

This conference will target 40 community volunteers who have been engaged in a number of good relations training programmes. The theme is building capacity for peaceful change and will involve cafŽ culture style discussions with a number of speakers.

This event will inform the local community of our shared history, learning how political and religious issues led local men, both Catholic and Protestant, to fight and die together side by side in World War One. A presentation will be delivered by Amanda Moreno, Head of Collections, Museum of the Royal Irish Regiments. Arthur Clarke will also deliver a presentation on the Armagh War Memorial Project.

This event aims to raise awareness of the Rural Enabler Programme and collate through roundtable discussions the views and experiences of key stakeholders who are tasked with the responsibility of peacebuilding north and south of the border.
